It absolutely fascinates me when I look at other people’s blogs. Not just their recent posts… but their older ones—their history. It says so much about them and about humanity. To admit what you like is to admit a small peice of your worldview, and to admit your worldview is to admit your soul’s deepest secrets.
I like people’s secrets. Not because they’re juicy, but because they’re real.
I know everyone lies, or at least, they contextualize themselves in a certain, biased way. But that speaks for itself if you look deep enough. You can always detect the edges if you’re looking, and the lies are sometimes more telling than the truth. I love seeing what people deem acceptable for a public audience. It says so much.
I don’t know… it’s just that every time I read between the lines into someone’s life, I feel like I discover an undisclosed secret about living. Every person has something interesting to offer, and usually, it’s the things they’d rather not have explicitly known that are the most valuable—the most insightful and inspiring.
The deeper (more intimate) you go, the more you see and the more that person becomes a role model for Truth.
I’ve had four and a half shots of alcohol. Some Jack, some Captain. You know. Work was so SLOW, but it’s the slow days that warrant the most release, sometimes. I feel I must tell you because someone out there, maybe in 6 days and maybe in 6 years, will read this and feel a little better about themselves for drinking just like I am. And they will know the truth about me—one little aspect of humanity. I work HARD for the money and I quell my crazy afterward with alcohol and other intoxicants. Nothing too crazy, but you know. Intoxicating.
It’s just… I want to know people but I hate that awkward learning phase. I want to tell the truth but I fear judgment. As a writer, I have to tell the truth even when it hurts so good. Or so bad. They’re two sides of the same coin, you know.
Just saying.
I hope other people get a little of me every time I get a little of them, through our shared media. It can be so telling, as I think this post may be.
