I feel like you’re probably the majority of tumblr users, anyway. Let’s be honest. We like anything that replaces social contact (see Sheldon Cooper for direct quote, but you already knew that).
I just want you to know: yeah, life is tough, but it isn’t that tough.
We have the advantage. You’re probably very smart. If not traditionally educated, I bet you have this common sense that isn’t so common. You’re “people smart,” maybe. Anyway.
You’re a good faker when you really want something. Yeah, you’re way more moral a lot of the time and feel guilty for using your powers for selfish means. But let’s be honest. You know how to get what you need to get.
You probably knew how to get A’s in school. Chances are, you realized early on the formula for creating satisfactory grades. You couldn’t help it. You didn’t try that hard, but you tried enough. You did well.
Maybe society has tricked you into thinking it (the extroverts) has the advantage. Laugh hard and loud, fellow introverts. We could rule the world if that’s what truly interested us. It’s a shame we think so little of politics. We’d be good at it if we could abandon our morals.
Maybe you go out because you feel guilty for not being like those extroverts society tends to reward. First of all, try not to (feel guilty, that is). Second, remember: you are the master of spinning pretty words. You are smart. You are subtle. You have a LOT going on in your head. Don’t let an extrovert’s witty quip disarm you. Fight back with prettier words. You know you have them within, so try to use them when you’re out.
Here’s the thing. You’ll never NOT be an introvert. But you can pretend. You can pretend so hard and good and even though it’s lame to be a liar, sometimes that’s the reality, at first.
The glorious extrovert does not understand the subtle introvert. Remember that. You probably understand them (all), but they probably do NOT understand you. That gives you a tremendous advantage, if you have the courage to act.
I know they look beautiful and hilarious and attractive. But remember, you are resourceful. You aren’t just a lackey—you’re an introvert. Work it.
You don’t like to make small talk. Suck it up. That’s the way of the world. Stupid extroverts control everything. They decree that small talk must be made. Make it. Remember: you can beat them at their own game. You know how, even. All you have to do is fake it until it works.
I know it’s uncomfortable, but like any habit, it grows easier. It may not be natural, but it will get you ahead. You will receive tremendous rewards. And the relationships you forge won’t actually be that fake. You’ll sense yourself falling for them FOR REAL. Extroverts love introverts who listen and respond with interesting conclusions. You have that. You have it without even really trying.
I know it sucks. I know that it’s not philosophical talk with a fellow introvert via tumblr. It’s not going to be pleasant at first, but if you can just bite the bullet and be what they’re expecting, you’ll outsmart them 9 times out of 10 when it counts. You’ll have what you desire. You’ll appear happy and confident and that will gain you real happiness and confidence, which can in turn be used for whatever means you desire.
I believe in you, you smartie. I’d always put my money on a brave introvert over a “thoughtful” extrovert. I know it’s lame to talk about useless nonsense, but usually that will lead to more beautiful discourse. And I know how you feel about that. Just saying. It’s an extrovert’s world. Be strong, and you can lead from behind the curtain.

So I’m slowly but surely recovering from a long depressive episode, and I feel that with each day I happen upon more encouraging words to speed up this transition. These words are among those. Thank you so much, stranger.
